3 Ways Diseased Rhetoric Can Ruin The Creator Economy
Smart Note 25
It’s not about you… it’s about others
Diseased rhetoric is usually addressed to the masses, seeks adoration or winning at all costs, and refuses to acknowledge the true needs of the soul.
The creator economy has the potential to change the world for the better by revolutionizing the way we work, interact with each other, and relate to our communities and the planet … but only if we avoid diseased rhetoric.
Too often rhetoric, or the art of persuasion, is focused entirely on aggrandizing the self or developing an online image that will attract the most people. That won’t grow the creator economy.
🦠 Here are three things that will ruin the creator economy.
Too much focus on the number of followers
Some create on a large scale and others create on a smaller scale, but everyone creates because they want to share something. Never lose sight of the fact that every single person who reads what you’re creating should be able to connect with you, feel a part of your work, and understand your perspective.
The best content is engaged content.
Seeking adoration or winning at all costs.
This is missing the point of being a creator. If you want to build a following, you’ll need to offer value first. If you’re working on a product, you’ll need to create a product that will help people.
The creator economy is not just about personality … it’s about helping people.
Not acknowledging the true needs of an audience.
Too many creators are so focused on what they want to create that they forget about the needs of their audience. They create products that are a poor fit and can even drive people away.
Being a creator isn’t just about making things… it’s about connecting with people. It’s not about persuading or attracting or even competing. It’s about lifting people up with content.
