5 Ways to Craft an Inviting Profile Page for Creating Your First Creator Community
What space are you inviting people into?
Smart Note 23
What space are you inviting people into?
Creating content online is about building a community, requiring you to carefully craft your ethos (or persona) online.
Good ethos invites the listener (or reader) into the space or perspective of the speaker.
But what kind of space are you inviting them into?
Think of your profile page as an invitation. The best content — whether it’s in video or audio form, on a blog or in a PDF — is more like a conversation starter than a static asset. That’s why you should think of your profile page like an invitation, not as a sales pitch or an informational bio.
Here are four things to think about when crafting an inviting ethos for building your online community:
1️⃣ Know who you are inviting. You can’t invite everyone, so don’t try. Sketch out a persona of the person you are inviting and keep that front and center.
2️⃣ Invite trust by making your site personal. Trust is more than just credibility … it’s about being real. If you want other people to share, you have to share yourself.
3️⃣ Use design to create a sense of place. Think about the user experience. You probably wouldn’t invite people to your house if it was a complete mess. Keep things organized.
4️⃣ Address the people you want to be in your community. In other words, build in some sentences with “you.”
5️⃣ Make a clear call to action. That’s your invitation. If someone wants to come to your party, what do they need to do. Don’t be shy.
Profile pages are often the gateway to more connections. They act like a bridge between creators and content seekers. By creating a beautiful profile page that inspires trust and encourages engagement, you’ll give your customers a positive first impression and create a strong connection.
