Aha! But what IS information? From what I can see, there are as many definitions of information as there are disciplines. When you tell me to design my infornation, what are you really telling me?

That's a really good point... I've been trying to figure this out for a couple years now. 😆

I think it's kind of the point of information typing—to figure out what actually IS information. I've got a lot of notes and drafts and whatever... but not all of that is information.

So I could dump all of that into an AI and have it figure it out... or I can work at identifying it myself and give AI information, not just data.

The difference between feeding AI my messy notes versus structured information is pretty dramatic in terms of what I get back.

I like to think I have a useful approach to information vs data. Note that I say useful, not correct/true/or otherwise of an absolute value. One of my favorite quotes "Definitions aren't true or false, they're useful or useless" - Stuart Kauffman. But I'll say, it's hard to judge whether something informs if you can't say waht information is.

Hey, I'm in rhetoric, so there is no right answer. It's all contextual. 😆

I've been playing around with using Claude to take my notes, pull the information out, then transform them into detailed information types for a specific audience.

Pretty good success so far, considering I haven't put much work into it yet. I'll probably be sharing something about that soon.

Cogent and compelling. I like your demonstration of the applicability of this orientation across different contexts, not only in an educational milieu whether for student or teacher, but also in a business. I appreciate the practical starting points and the nod to Precision Content, which I'll check out.
